ON PROJECTS ON DEFENSE AND ECONOMIC SECURITY IN THE WIDER CARIBBEAN  

GENERAL INFORMATION

This forum is being organized with multiple aim  of strengthening peace and security in the region, promoting tourism, especially cultural tourism, and promoting trade between the first world and Latin America and Wider Caribbean. In addition to the Forum, a Trade Fair is being  organized, as well as an OSI Art Festival and Festival of Spanish, Latin American and Caribbean Music as the first OSI concrete project in the Wider Caribbean. OSI is essentially a tool of informal diplomacy which  allows high level officials to establish contact without restraints of classical diplomacy. OSI acts as a "think tank” but also as a clearing house for projects. Its members include high level officials, Ministers, members of  defense community, private sector, members of Congress in their personal capacity. The headquarters of OSI for the Wider Caribbean and Latin America  is situated in Colombia, under Senator Jairo Clopatofsky as the Hon Chairman.

Following the launch of OSI Wider Caribbean program in Corpus Christi, in February 2007, this event will be the First OSI annual Forum on Defense and Economic Security (tourism, energy, maritime transport and trade) in the Wider Caribbean.The Forum counts with participation of 250 people at a highest level, from Colombia, other countries in the region, the United States, Europe and Africa.
